After over a month of speculation, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves agreed to a deal that will send star power forward Kevin Love from the Timberwolves to the Cavaliers in exchange for the last two number one overall picks, forward Anthony Bennett (2013) and swingman Andrew Wiggins (2014), and a future first round pick. The deal cannot be completed until August 23, 30 days after Wiggins signed his rookie contract.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

There have been reports the Timberwolves would prefer a veteran to Bennett and Philadelphia 76ers’ forward Thaddus Young, the only talented, experienced player remaining on their roster, has come up in connection with the Timberwolves and it was a little bit surprising that wasn’t part of the reported deal.

According to Mark Perner of The Philadelphia Daily News, the 76ers and Timberwolves are indeed swapping Young and Bennett in the deal.

"A source informed the Daily News that the Sixers will be sending veteran forward Thaddeus Young to Minnesota for a package that will include Bennett, the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NBA draft……It has been reported that Minnesota sees Young as the right guy to fill Love’s shoes. The Timberwolves, it has been reported, could use the first-round pick they get from the Cavaliers to help entice the Sixers to part with the 26-year-old Young, but that has not been confirmed."

Young went for 17.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game and shot 45.4% from the field, 30.8% from beyond the arc and 71.2% from the free throw line this season. Bennett averaged 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 35.6% from the field, 24.5% from beyond the arc and 63.8% from the free throw line.
