Last season when the Indianapolis Colts traded with the Cleveland Browns to acquire running back Trent Richardson, the former first round pick had a very hard time with the transition, and did not have quite the season most thought he would. But having been with the team for an entire offseason now, they’re hoping that things could be different in 2014.

And just to make sure he becomes the best Colt that he can be, the team has brought in probably the best mentor they could have for him in former Colts star Edgerrin James.

Despite what you may think of Jim Irsay, given his most recent personal struggles, there’s no doubt that he keeps great relationships with players after they leave him, and James taking time out of his schedule to come in and help with the progression of Richardson is further proof of that.

For the first seven years of his career, James was one of the most dominant forces out of the backfield in the entire league as he and Peyton Manning continually shredded defenses together.

Now James is there to make sure that Richardson and Andrew Luck can eventually become the same dynamic duo.
