The Miami Heat will never be able to fill the void LeBron James left when he decided to return to his home state of Ohio to rejoin the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the team did do a solid job in picking up versatile forward Luol Deng.

More from LeBron James

For years Deng was a thorn in the Heat’s side as he played for the Chicago Bulls during critical playoff series. When Derrick Rose incurred back to back knee injuries, the Bulls were no longer the powerhouse they used to be, and were not able to compete against the big three of the Heat.

Last year, Deng was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers mid-season, and did not play his best basketball by any means. Regardless, Deng was a highly sought after free agent this offseason, and the Heat were able to coax him into playing with his former rivals.

In a recent interview with the Heat, Deng stated that he would fit in great with the team because he was willing to “do whatever it takes to win”. Check out the interview with Deng right here.

Deng will join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh as the Heat look to secure their fifth straight trip to the NBA Finals. While the journey will undoubtedly be more difficult with LeBron, Deng will be a huge asset for the Heat this upcoming season.

When the Heat meet the Cavs on Christmas day, you can bet Deng will be given the tall order of defending LeBron. December 25th can not come soon enough.
