Gus Bradley says he ‘wouldn’t count on’ Blake Bortles running with ones
By Dan Zinski
Blake Bortles was very impressive in his preseason debut for the Jacksonville Jaguars, going 7-of-11 with 117 yards. So the first round pick will surely get a chance to run with the first team in Jacksonville’s next preseason game, right Gus Bradley?

RIGHT GUS BRADLEY?
Um, guess not. Per The Florida Times-Union:
"“I wouldn’t count on it this week,” Bradley said."
This represents something of a course reversal for Bradley who in comments immediately after the game indicated that there was a at least a chance Bortles could get first team work in the next preseason contest.
Gus and his staff had some time to think about it and decided they need to see more of Chad Henne with the first team while Bortles gets his reps with the backups.
When speaking further about Bortles’ performance against Tampa Bay Friday, Bradley suggested that maybe he wasn’t as good as people thought.
"“It’s a little bit unrealistic, because there was one blitz from Tampa the whole day, one pressure,” Bradley said. “So, it was all four-man rush and good protection. I think it’s what we had hoped to see from him.”"
What will it take for Bortles to earn first team reps? I don’t know, but for whatever reason Jacksonville is clinging to the atrocious Chad Henne while deferring the opportunity to get the Blake Bortles era underway.
Necessary caution or dumb-assed stubbornness? You’ll have to decide for yourself.
