Johnny Manziel’s first taste of NFL action went pretty well. The Cleveland Browns quarterback completed 7-11 passes for 63 yards and rushed for 27 more on the ground in six attempts during the team’s 13-12 loss to the Detroit Lions on Saturday.

Manizel took to Instagram following the game to evaluate his performance:

"First NFL game in the books. Lots of room to get better but great to be back out on the field #StriveForGreatness #DawgPound"

Manziel echoed similar sentiments in postgame interviews, according to the Browns’ official website.

"“Luckily for me there’s three more games to get out there and learn what to do in different situations against defenses,” said Manziel after the game. “I’m still growing up as a quarterback. Week One, is obviously I guess you guys would say, it’s close. But at the same time there’s a lot of things [I’m working on] that will paint a better picture for us.”"

Manziel’s showing might have been good enough to earn him the starting nod for the Browns next game against the Washington Redskins on August 18; however, the former Texas A&M standout will just have to wait and see if that’s the case.

Manziel’s top competition for the Browns’ Week 1 starting QB job, Brian Hoyer, finished the game with 92 yards on 6-14 attempts.
