Los Angeles Dodgers place SS Hanley Ramirez on disabled list
By Phil Watson
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez, who left Friday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the first inning and did not play Saturday, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained oblique.
Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reported via Twitter:
Ramirez has battled through hand, wrist and calf injuries this year and is likely to miss at least the rest of this month.

In 100 games this season, Ramirez is hitting .277/.367/.455 with 50 runs, 27 doubles, 12 homers, 58 RBI and 12 stolen bases. He was the National League Rookie of the Year in 2006 and was a three-time All-Star while with the Florida Marlins.
To take Ramirez’s place on the 25-man roster, the Dodgers recalled Darwin Barney from Triple-A Albuquerque.
The Dodgers acquired Barney from the Chicago Cubs in a July 28 trade, sending minor-league pitcher Jonathan Martinez to Chicago on July 30 to complete the deal. Barney had been designated for assignment by the Cubs on July 22 after the former Gold Glove second baseman was hitting only .230/.265/.328 in 72 games, with 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 16 RBI.
Barney has been playing shortstop in Triple-A, where he was 9-for-35 with five runs, a double and an RBI in nine games since the trade.
Barney is expected to share time with rookie Miguel Rojas at shortstop until Ramirez can return.
The Dodgers lead the San Francisco Giants by 3½ games in the National League West and are a half-game up on the Brewers for the best record in the NL.
