Every year in Major League Baseball there are both surprises and disappointments. Both entire teams and individual players can qualify in either of the two categories. Last season the Boston Red Sox surprised everyone by going from the worst team in the A.L. East to becoming the 2013 World Champions for the third time this century.

At the same time there are players like Arizona Diamondbacks catcher, Miguel Montero. He was great in 2011 and good in 2012 but suffered greatly in 2013 hitting just .230 with only 11 home runs. Sure it happens to the best of the best. Then sometimes the worst from the year before can become the one of the best in the following season. This is baseball and anything can happen but here are the four biggest disappointments of the 2014 season going into mid-August with only about six weeks to go in the 2014 MLB regular season.
