When the Orlando Magic finally decided to put Arron Afflalo on the trade block, multiple NBA teams came running. The talented two-way player was understandably coveted though it appears the league-wide interest has the confidence of the Denver Nuggets swingman at an all-time high.

More from Denver Nuggets

Acquired for Evan Fournier and the 56th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Arron Afflalo made his way from the Magic Kingdom to the Denver Nuggets and expects big things from the team this season. Not only did he recently proclaim the Denver Nuggets to be a ‘championship team’ he also believes he’s one of the best players in the NBA.

“I learn a lot every year, I try to improve my leadership skills, I try to improve my body and my game,” he said. “This year, I expect it to be no different. I expect to be one of the best players in the league and the best player at my position.”

There’s no doubt that Arron Afflalo is a very good basketball player and it’s within reason to suggest he’s probably a top ten player at his position. Still, suggesting that he’s one of the best players in the league? That’s a little over the top, even if it is a self proclamation.

Regardless, many feel the Denver Nuggets acquisition of Afflalo was a steal and he seems determined to prove the pundits correct given his suggestion of being an elite player in the league.

Afflalo averaged 18.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game last season for the Orlando Magic, all while shooting 46 percent from the field.
