When former Miami Heat and Portland Trailblazers center Greg Oden was arrested last week, many were shocked. Oden, who has seemingly come off as a kind and rather shy person didn’t seem the type to find himself in handcuffs.

More from Miami Heat

Alas, that’s exactly where he found himself and now he’s reportedly facing a felony charge after he allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend in the face.

According to the Indy Star, the Level 5 felony brings with it a one to six year sentence in prison.

"Former Miami Heat player Greg Oden is now facing a felony charge after police said he punched his former girlfriend in the face.Oden, 26, was charged in Marion Superior Court today with one count of battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony, as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and battery resulting in bodily injury."

There’s no word on what caused the alleged scuffle between Oden and his ex-girlfriend, though more will likely be known after the big man appears in court on Tuesday as is scheduled.

The Miami Heat were said to have interest in bringing Greg Oden back this season, though have understandably decided to move on after Oden’s latest legal troubles.

Few teams outside of the Heat have shown interest in the former No. 1 overall draft pick, so it’s very possible that the one-time Buckeye star may have played hist last game in the NBA.

Certainly a case of what could have been given Oden’s immense talent, though troubled and checkered injury history.
