It has been only a month since the announcement that WMMA’s striking extraordinaire Holly Holm (7-0) officially signed to be part of the ranks of the UFC’s Women’s Bantamweight Division and still the buzz around Holm’s status as a UFC fighter continues to be one of MMA’s biggest stories. The undefeated top WMMA prospect has yet to be given an opponent for her Octagon debut (expected in November) and while there has been plenty of speculation, Holm’s UFC debut is still very much in the air.
Fans clamor over “The Preacher’s Daughter’s” highlight reel of knockouts in the cage, including her devastating head kick victories over Allanna Jones and Juliana Werner; those moments are some of Holm’s absolute best moments from her MMA career. With the array of MMA finishes it may be easy to forget that Holm was also a decorated world champion boxer. With a record of 33-2-3 accumulated over an eleven year span, Holm captured titles in the Welterweight, Light-Welterweight and Light-Middleweight weight classes for such notable boxing sanctioning organizations as the World Boxing Federation (WBF), International Boxing Association (IBA), North American Boxing Federation (NABF) and the World Boxing Council (WBC).
After such a memorable career, Holm has been argued by some analysts to be one of the greatest female combat athletes of all time. The end to Holm’s boxing career came in May of 2013 when she swept the scorecards over Mary McGee and to best prepare for an upcoming bout announcement and octagon debut, let’s take a look at five of Holm’s most memorable moments from her successful boxing career.
