South Korea's DongRaeGu wins spot in Red Bull Battle Grounds Grand Finals

The field for the Red Bull Battle Grounds Grand Finals is 75 percent set.

South Korea’s Park ‘DongRaeGu’ Soo Ho defeated Kang ‘Solar’ Min Soo in the final series of the Red Bull Battle Grounds Global event this weekend. What started out as an online qualifier with open registration from StarCraft II players all over the globe ended with the final six participants gathering at Red Bull North America HQ in Santa Monica. When the digital smoke cleared, DongRaeGu was triumphant, advancing to the tour finale which will take place on September 20-21 at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington D.C.

Five other top players have already qualified:

  • Won ‘PartinG’ Lee Sak, Red Bull Battle Grounds Grand Finals 2013 Champion
  • Kim Yoo ‘sOs’ Jin, Red Bull Battle Grounds Grand Finals 2013 Runner Up
  • Sasha ‘Scarlett’ Hosyn, Red Bull Battle Ground North America Champion
  • Cho ‘Trap’ Sung Ho, MLG Anaheim Champion
  • Choi ‘Bomber’ Ji Sung, Red Bull Battle Grounds Atlanta Champion

One more online qualifier and the winner of Red Bull Battle Grounds Detroit, which is coming up on August 22-24, will complete the field of eight.

To get DC properly prepared for the Grand Finals, Red Bull is throwing a special BarCraft event on August 24, complete with an appearance by prominent eSports commentator Sean ‘Day[9]‘ Plott. The event will take place from noon to 5 pm at Public Tenley and feature food, drinks, giveaways and plenty of games of both StarCraft II and Hearthstone. Full details can be found on Facebook.
