Caleb Porter nominates Pep Guardiola for Ice Bucket Challenge

Portland Timbers Caleb Porter was recently challenged to do the Ice-Bucket Challenge to raise awareness for ALS. See the video from ESPN. After completing the challenge, he nominated Alex Morgan, sports columnist John Conzano, Jurgen Klinsmann, and Pep Guardiola.

The funniest of these nominations is definitely Pep Guardiola, who notably refused to shake Porter’s hand after the MLS All-Stars beat Bayern Munich. At the end of the video, Porter made a hand shaking motion while saying Guardiola’s name.

The classless act by Guardiola sums up the attitude that a ton of Europeans have about the MLS, that the leagues across the pond are superior and always will be. But the MLS showed a ton of heart and determination by winning, and showed Guardiola that America’s league has come a long way.

I doubt the MLS All-Stars will see Guardiola and Bayern Munich back in America after this year, given how embarrassed he seemed after losing a last week. The video is a funny gesture, and hopefully Porter’s nomination will bring the trend to Germany and continue to spread awareness about ALS.
