While little was known about the 2014-15 NBA schedule, what was known was that the San Antonio Spurs would host LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers to tip-off the season. Or at least, so we were told.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

That however will not be the case as a scheduling conflict has apparently forced the NBA to change when the San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Cavaliers will meet.

The date of their matchup in Texas is currently unknown, though as previously reported the Spurs will have their ‘Ring Night’ against the Dallas Mavericks on October 28th. As for the Cavaliers, they’re still expected to play on Christmas day against the Miami Heat, so nothing has changed in that capacity. The only that has been altered (at least to this point) is the Cavs opening against the Spurs.

As Marc J. Spears of Yahoo notes, the Cavaliers are still expected to play on the 30th which was their scheduled date for their tilt against the Spurs originally, though no official reason was given as to why that game was taken off the preliminary schedule.

Understandably the NBA is going to do everything they can to put the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James in the best possible television slot, so if you’re worried about missing King James’ return to the Cavaliers organization, have no concerns – the league will make sure you see it.

The NBA schedule will be released in full on Wednesday evening.
