Lil Wayne’s latest installment of “Tha Carter” series, Tha Carter V, has been highly anticipated. Rumors have been swirling for almost a year about potential release dates, and at one point it was believed to be dropping on Cinco De Mayo, May 5th or 5/5 thanks to Drake running his mouth on stage. But that date came and went without the album being released.
In early July, Lil Wayne said he had no idea when Tha Carter V would be released.
“I think it drops either in September…and then we have…ah I can’t tell you the sneak thing,” Wayne said, via BET. “Anyway, yeah, I think it drops in September, or August, I don’t know.”
Well on ESPN today, Lil Wayne announced Tha Carter V’s release date.
From Miss Info:
A night after his “Drake vs. Lil’ Wayne” co-headlining tour stopped in Hartford, Connecticut, Lil’ Wayne made his way to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut to appear on Sportscenter and First Take. Speaking with Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith on First Take, Weezy revealed the fifth installment of Tha Carter V will arrive on October 28.
We’ve already heard a slew of singles from the album, which includes “Believe Me,” “Krazy,” and the newly released “Grindin’” with Drake. It will be interesting to hear the album as a whole after its release, but don’t be surprised if it gets pushed back. That seems to happen with Lil Wayne albums and it appears to have been pushed back from August or September till the end of October.
