By Bryan Rose
The Toronto Raptors weren’t really in need of another forward, though, they decided they needed one anyway as the team agreed on a one-year deal with Jordan Hamilton on Thursday morning.

While Hamilton wasn’t one of the ‘top’ free agents left on the market, he certainly was coveted as a multitude of teams expressed interest in signing the 6’7 tweener before the Toronto Raptors scooped him up.
A former first round pick (No. 26) of the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, Jordan Hamilton has bounced around, playing for both the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets during his short three-year career. He’s hoping he’ll find a more stable situation with the Toronto Raptors.
Still just 23-years-old, Hamilton has shown the flashes that made him a previous first-round pick, though has struggled to replicate them at a consistent level. If he’s able to do so, the Toronto Raptors may end up with a free agent steal, which is why they likely decided to invest in the former Austin talent.
Details of the contract were not released though it’s unlikely the Raptors paid more than the minimum, so it’s essentially a no-risk, potential decent reward scenario if Hamilton can fulfill his talent.
Both the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves were said to have an interest in bringing Jordan Hamilton aboard, though it seems as if he preferred Toronto – possibly due to their playoff aspirations in comparison to the Knicks and T’Wolves who will both likely have some struggles.
Hamilton put up nearly 7 points and 3 rebounds in 17 minutes per game last season.
