Jaguars right tackle Austin Pasztor has a broken bone in his hand
By Dan Zinski
The big news out of Jacksonville’s Thursday night game against the Bears was obviously the performance of Blake Bortles, who is quickly becoming a sensation around the nation (for his fun-to-say name if nothing else). But there was also some fairly significant injury news to come out of the game, with Jaguars right tackle Austin Pasztor suffering a broken bone in his right hand.

Pasztor downplayed the injury to Gene Frenette, saying he doesn’t consider it “a big deal.” Pasztor is probably secretly stoked that he broke the hand because now he gets to don one of those bad-ass clubs that linemen always wear whenever they suffer an injury in that area. A club will naturally hinder Pasztor’s ability to hold but of course we know good linemen never hold (cough).
There’s no word yet on how long Pasztor might be out, but until he’s ready to go again, the Jags will roll with Cameron Bradfield. The 23-year-old Pasztor was originally drafted in the first round by the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL but ultimately did not play in that league, instead signing as a UDFA with the Vikings.
Pasztor was cut by the Vikings before the season in 2012 and landed on the Jaguars’ practice squad. He made his way into the starting lineup in 2013 and is set to again be an important part of the Jaguars’ plan as they begin the Toby Gerhart era.
