Odell Beckham Jr. will not play for Giants this weekend
The New York Giants looked to bolster their offense this offseason when they took former LSU standout wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. with the 12th overall pick in this May’s NFL draft.

Unfortunately for the Giants and Beckham, hamstring issues have limited his play during training camp, which is crucial for a rookie player. Reports are stating that Beckham is slowly improving, as he got some live drills in this past week and looked impressive doing so.
Regardless, Giants head coach Tom Coughlin told the media that Beckham will not be playing tomorrow against the Indianapolis Colts.
“He is not going to play,” Coughlin told Giants media bluntly. “Expect him next week, but not this week. There is not enough work.”
When asked whether or not he has seen improvement in Beckham in the short amount of time he has been on the practice field, Coughlin stated that there is more work to be done.
“We have had him for individuals and we have had him for a few plays,” Coughlin said. “When the few plays are run, he looks to be doing fine, but like everybody, they need more repetition, more time on the field. They need to be in that fatigued state to see how they perform then. We need all of those things to take place.”
Beckham will have to sit out of tomorrow’s preseason game, but you can bet he will be observing intently on the sideline biding his time and waiting for his moment. If Beckham can stay healthy, he can prove to be a game changer for the Giants offense in 2014.
