Texas A&M keeps on rolling in the 2015 recruiting class, sitting as the No. 2-ranked class in the country by 247Sports. On Friday, it received another commitment from a 4-star player, as in-state cornerback Roney Elam made is verbal pledge to the Aggies.
Elam chose the Aggies over two other finalists—LSU and Texas. Getting the commitment meant Texas A&M’s 2015 class is now up to 20 players and its position as the No. 2-ranked class stayed in tact.
The 6’3″, 170-pound cornerback comes to Texas A&M from Newton, Texas—which is located between Houston and the border with Louisiana.
Elam is currently the No. 287-ranked player in the country by the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also the No. 27-ranked cornerback and the No. 41-ranked player in the state of Texas.
Coming in to the decision on Friday, LSU was leading the Crystal Ball rankings with 54 percent of the 28 picks made. Texas A&M was the runner-up with 36 percent of the predictions.
With Elam in the fold the Aggies continue to try to keep pace with the No. 1 class nationally and in the SEC, which belongs to Alabama. Elam’s commitment gives Texas A&M 11 players rated as 4-star players, to go along with two 5-star players and seven 3-star players in this class.
Elam’s commitment is huge for the Aggies, as he’s the first player listed as a cornerback in the fold for Texas A&M during this class.
