College football AP Poll 2014: Florida State tops preseason poll

We are now less than two weeks away from the 2014 college football season getting underway, and that means that it’s time for the preseason AP Poll to be released. And that it was on Sunday, and really to no one’s surprise, the reigning national champion Florida State Seminoles are sitting at the top.

The Seminoles rolled to a 14-0 season last year and that national title, defeating Auburn out in Pasadena inside the Rose Bowl, and they did so behind the arm of Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston, who is back this year as a redshirt sophomore. This could very well be a big reason as to why the ‘Noles were given the top billing.

To round out the top five is the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Oregon Ducks, Oklahoma Sooners and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Here’s a look at the complete 2014 preseason rankings.
