Over the past few days we’ve seen a multitude of celebrities and athletes participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Most have been rather pedestrian in nature, simply drenching yourself in a bucket of ice water.

More from NBA

A few have decided to get rather creative, be it using a zamboni as your tool of choice or even dipping yourself into a tub of ice water.

All that said, I’m not sure any can top the ALS ice bucket challenge from former NBA center Dikembe Mutombo.

Deke, who spent 19 seasons in the league won the Defensive Player of the Year award four times and ranks second in career blocks. Since his playing days came to an end, Dikembe Mutombo has spent time training current NBA talent, spending time in Africa helping those in poverty and of course starred in amazing insurance commercials (NO NO NO NO NO).

He also apparently found time to participate in the ice bucket challenge and it’s just as amazing as you’d expect.

Shot on rather grainy cell phone footage (which somehow even makes the video better), Deke raises up a bucket full of ice water and pours it over the top of his seven foot self. Nothing amazing about it yet, right? Well, that’s when his famed ‘Cookie Monster’ comes out and Mutombo begins reacting to the ice cold water as if he just unleashed a bucket of acid all over himself.

With noises that you’d only hear in a horror movie, Dikembe Mutombo danced around attempting to warm himself up, screaming, as the video cut itself off.
