Life has a funny way of coming full circle some times, and in the case of now former Tulsa Golden Hurricane defensive end Dalton Rodriguez, that’s exactly what is happening.

More from College Football

Rodriguez was heavily recruited as an offensive lineman by the Oklahoma Sooners, however Rodriguez wanted to play on the opposite side of the ball. So, Rodriguez chose to accept a scholarship to play defensive end at Tulsa.

He saw the field as a defensive end during his freshman season in 2013, making seven tackles and having two sacks. Yet, something just wasn’t right according to Rodriguez and following his dismissal from Tulsa’s football team in March he got a second chance to make things right.

On Saturday, Rodriguez was accepted as a walk-on transfer at Oklahoma and will play whatever position the coaches feel is best for him and the team this time around.

“I’m ready to put in the work and ready to get back on the field,” Rodriguez said, via NewsOK.com. “It was cool getting to play as a freshman and TU was all right but I had my doubts about it from when I first got there.”

Rodriguez must sit out this season under NCAA transfer rules, but will be able to have three years of eligibility left following the 2014 season. He’ll also have the opportunity to re-earn the scholarship he now wishes he had taken in the first place.
