Barcelona is playing a preseason friendly against Club Leon on Monday. The game is intriguing for a couple of reasons.
It is Neymar’s first return to action since injuring his back during the 2014 World Cup, a fairly serious injury that he seemed to recover from quickly. It is also the debut game for former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, who was banned for four months of football activities for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup.
Suarez’s ban was altered allowing him to train and play in a friendly, making him eligible for this friendly against Club Leon, though he’d likely only play for a few minutes.
Early in the game, Neymar set up Lionel Messi for a goal, a simple header. Minutes later, Neymar scored a goal of his own.
He got past the back line of the defense with a beautiful through ball. Neymar then chipped the keeper for a goal, a thing of beauty. His welcome back to the soccer stage.
