Cancelling EA Access already?

It appears as though some gamers aren’t as happy with EA Access as they feel they should be.  If there’s one thing Electronic Arts could have benefited from, it is in understanding what hurt the Xbox One out of the gate.  EA Access just launched a week ago, but the options through the service are severely underwhelming.

Currently, the lineup of Madden 25, Peggle 2, FIFA 14, and Battlefield 4 comes across as relatively stale.  With each title being a game that many have already played, there isn’t much justification for the service at this point.

It also seems like gamers are clamoring to return their subscription in order to halt their monthly $4.99 being doled out.  Thanks to the fine folks over at Kotaku, there is now an explanation as to how this is done.

Rather than cancelling through your EA Access account, or the app on the Xbox One console, gamers must head over to their Xbox Account Support page.  It seems as though the subscription fees aren’t paid directly to EA, but rather to Microsoft first.

At the bottom of the page, the option to see all subscriptions is present.  Clicking on this option and following the prompts will allow you to back out of your monthly EA Access download.

At this point, EA hasn’t done itself any favors offering Madden 15 as a six-hour demo as part of their “early access” games.  In doing so, they have essentially asked gamers to pay $4.99 for what has been, in the past, a free demo.

Hopefully EA Access continues to grow, and at a rather exponential pace, allowing for the content to keep up with the demand.  Despite the low price point, lack of options in EA Access will ultimately determine the fate of the service.
