Dallas Cowboys like the play of Rolando McClain
By Bryan Rose
The Dallas Cowboys weren’t sure what they were getting when they acquired Rolando McClain from the Baltimore Ravens, though they did know when his head is on straight, he’s a talented defender.

Of course, keeping Rolando McClain in line isn’t exactly the easiest of tasks, especially for a team in the spotlight as much as the Dallas Cowboys. That said, so far McClain has been very impressive and the Cowboys coaching staff has been thrilled with what they’ve seen so far. So has owner Jerry Jones, who talked about the linebacker after Saturday’s game.
“I liked what 55 did out there,” Jones said. “He got some good snaps, more snaps than I thought he might get and he did real well. We knew and felt that he was good in coverage and he showed that he drops back good, got a good feel for coverage out there.”
During the 2013 season, the Dallas Cowboys had a woeful time on defense and that was with All-Pro Sean Lee in the lineup. Now with Lee out due to injury, Dallas is going to need all the help they can get on the defensive end and it seems as if Rolando McClain is up for the challenge.
Selected by the Oakland Raiders with the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, McClain simply needs to keep his motor working at a high level and avoid the lack of consistency that has plagued him during his short NFL career.
Trading for McClain was a low-risk move for the Dallas Cowboys and one that may pay off excellent returns assuming his high quality play continues.
