Pros and cons of Teddy Bridgewater starting for Vikings

When the Minnesota Vikings jumped back into the first round of this May’s NFL Draft to select quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, they sent a message to league observers — this is our starting quarterback of the future. Louisville’s finest had shown enough at the college level to garner an investment in his talent. The question that remains is when he’ll get his chance to be the man at the helm.
Fellow quarterback Christian Ponder has openly endorsed incumbent Matt Cassel over the summer, even going so far as to declare that Cassel was the team’s starting QB back in June. Rookie head coach Mike Zimmer has done his part, playing Cassel with the first-teamers in each of the Vikings first two preseason games. All signs from the organization seem to be suggesting that they’d like Bridgewater to wait his turn.
