49ers, Glenn Dorsey agree to two-year contract extension
He may be out with a torn bicep, but that won’t stop Glenn Dorsey from getting paid. He and the San Francisco 49ers agreed to a two-year extension on his contract on Tuesday, however the terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Glenn is a true pro who has quickly become a valued contributor to our organization both on and off the field,” said 49ers general manager Trent Baalke, via 49ers.com. “He is a quick study and a very good football player that has earned this extension, and we look forward to his future contributions.”

Last year, Dorsey had 41 tackles and two sacks. His career has been relatively disappointing, considering his college success. He was one of the most decorated college defensive linemen in history. In his senior year with LSU, he was the first to win the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Outland Trophy, the Lott Trophy and the Lombardi Award in one year.
The deal comes as some surprise and the terms likely favor San Francisco. He was injured and his stats weren’t particularly prolific. Dorsey was approaching free agency at the end of this year, and with youngsters like Justin Smith and Ray McDonald on the roster, it wasn’t clear if the 49ers would show interest. Dorsey probably wanted to ensure his relative safety on an NFL roster, and likely did so by giving the 49ers a discounted rate.
