College football has a number of assistant coaches waiting in the wings for their chance at a head coaching job.

Being an assistant coach can often be a thankless job as the heap of the praise goes to the head coach and players while the assistants often toil in anonymity.

Assistants are tasked with hitting the recruiting trail in addition to their coaching responsibilities, much more than their bosses, and are the go-between for players and head coaches.

It is a tough job to be sure, some crack under the responsibility, while others, those on this list, thrive and should be rewarded with promotions in the near future.
