According to the Indianapolis Star, Irsay’s court date will likely come in late October or early November after his attorney requested the trial be pushed back.
The owner of the Indianapolis Colts has been under review since his arrest in March and was charged with two misdemeanors stemming from the arrest that resulted in Irsay having his license suspended for a year and Irsay serving a brief stint in a rehab facility.
Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman thinks the late court date could result in Irsay avoiding a punishment from the NFL this season.
Early reports suggested Irsay could be subjected to a suspension as long as six-eight games to as little as three-four games.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has come under fire for many things in his time as league commish, but especially for the delay in which he has yet to rule on Irsay.
The pushing back of the trial date gives Goodell a little more time to determine if he will deliver a penalty to one of the league’s owners as severe as he would to a player.
How many games do you think Irsay will be suspended for and many do you think he should be suspended for?
