Just as the name of the game states, Pure Pool is, well, purely pool.

Developed by VooFoo Studios, Pure Pool is a game that looks to give PC and PlayStation 4 users a way to just unwind and relax while still having a good time with the game.

Pure Pool doesn’t include features that past pool games have had like an over-the-top camera, a power shot indicator nor the ability to perform trick shots. Instead, the game puts players in the first-person perspective, making it feel like you are really playing pool.

The game features a number of game modes, including the classic 8- and 9-ball styles of play. The other game styles are called Killer and Accumulator.

Killer involves players starting out with three lives, and earning extra lives by sinking multiple balls in a single shot. A life is lost if a player fails to sink any balls during his/her turn. Accumulator requires players to sink all 15 balls, in order. The person who finishes with the most points wins the game.

There are also four minigames to take part to help improve your play at the table.

While the ability to play against the computer is there, the game is mostly enjoyable when playing online against another human opponent. It at least makes the game’s appeal last a bit longer than if you were only able to play against A.I. opponents.

When it’s all said and done, Pure Pool is a game that is exactly what its name says it is. For diehard pool lovers, this game will be sure to tickle their fancy. For the rest of the gaming community, Pure Pool will give you some enjoyment at first. But after a while, it just becomes a game that you will likely only pick up for a few minutes at a time.
