On Monday, a report surfaced that the Sacramento Kings and Boston Celtics had a deal in place that would send point guard Rajon Rondo to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for a package involving forward Derrick Williams and guard Ben McLemore. In fact, the report said the deal was 80% done.

However, according to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, “there is no Rondo/Kings situation.”

"There is no Rondo/Kings situation. Unfortunately one of our Newslines editors picked up a story from Rotoworld, based off a tweet from a less than credible source. It flew under our flag for a few hours, so we got saddled with it, but there was nothing of substance to the report.By the time I saw it, my phone had a bunch of text messages denouncing it.I am sure the Kings would love to pry Rondo out of Boston… but the Celtics are not there yet."

The two sides may be able to work out a deal at some point but there is nothing to it yet.

Rondo was limited just 30 games while returning from his knee injury. He averaged 11.7 points, 9.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He shot 40.3% from the field, 28.9% from beyond the arc and 62.7% from the free throw line. In his career, he’s put up 11.1 points, 8.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 47.5% from the floor, 25.2% from three and 62.1% from the free throw line.
