The Sacramento Kings don’t have a bad roster, but they don’t have a good roster either. Given that, they’re still apparently open for business when it comes to trade talk.

More from NBA

With both DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay on the roster, the Sacramento Kings do have two very solid building blocks and simply need to add a third wheel and fill out the remaining portion of their roster. Finding such a player has proven more difficult than they had anticipated though as trade efforts for Josh Smith of the Detroit Pistons and Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics have fallen apart.

Still, the Kings know they’ll need additional talent if they’re to compete in the NBA’s tough Western Conference and are still looking to make moves.

"The Kings are far from finished with this roster. They have engaged a number of teams on a number of fronts and are still very much open for business on the trade front. If they bring the existing roster to camp, that’s not an issue but if the ability to upgrade presents itself they are open to that."

Sacramento has a handful of interesting trade pieces, namely guard Ben McLemore and their first-round pick which is likely to be a lotto selection considering the Kings squeaking into the playoff race seems rather doubtful. Combined together, both McLemore and the first-round pick would make an enticing package that a rebuilding team may have interest in.

So far the Sacramento Kings haven’t found any takers, but things could change as the season rolls on.
