The Cleveland Cavaliers are set to trade Anthony Bennett to the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the Kevin Love trade but fans who haven’t watched his offseason may be wondering why he’s such a big part of this trade.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Bennett was blasted in his rookie season for being a draft bust but seems to have used this offseason to turn things around in a big way.

According to Alex Kennedy from Basketball Insiders, Anthony Bennett may have gotten a bad break in his rookie season but the cries that he’s going to be a bust aren’t going to be something we continue to hear once his sophomore campaign gets rolling in 2014-15.

"“I do think Bennett will have a better season in 2014-15 regardless of where he lands. I was impressed with his play in summer league and it seems like he’s in much better shape now. Being injured for summer league and a big chunk of last offseason really set him back and made his transition to the NBA tougher. I think he’ll have a better sophomore campaign. Keep in mind, he’s only 21 years old. A lot of people have labeled him a bust, but he’s still extremely young and has plenty of time to “revive his career.”"

It’s been an interesting career for Bennett so far and he’s only played one season. It’s very possible that the way people shoveled onto him last year motivates him into becoming a star as that’s the perfect continuation of Bennett’s story in the NBA.
