Wii U owners who also happen to be fans of the Call of Duty franchise may want to sit down for this: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will not be coming to your system.
Sledgehammer Games and Activision have confirmed, thanks to a response by a member of the development team on Twitter, that the latest edition in the fabled Call of Duty franchise will not be coming to the Wii U this year. Instead, the company is focused on bringing the best experience possible to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
“No, no WiiU,” Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey said. “That was an Activision decision. We are focused on XboxOne, PS4, and PC.”
This will mark the first year that a Call of Duty title won’t release on the Wii U console. Call of Duty: Black Ops II was a launch title on the console back in 2012, and Call of Duty: Ghosts was also released on the console last year.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will launch on November 4 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Those who pre-order the game will receive a 24-hour headstart with the Day Zero edition being available to play on Monday, November 3.
