Running back Dee Hart left Alabama for Colorado State over the offseason, but it appears the injury bug followed him from Tuscaloosa to Fort Collins.

Hart, a one-time five-star recruit who tore his ACL twice while with the Crimson Tide injured his ankle on Tuesday, according to The Coloradoan. His status for the Rams’ Aug. 29 opener against Colorado could be in jeopardy.

Hart transferred to Colorado State earlier this month and despite the short turnaround, is in the mix for the starting job at running back for the Rams. He was immediately eligible because he had already graduated from the University of Alabama.

Hart had 18 yards on three carries in a closed scrimmage on Tuesday before hurting his ankle.

Hart tore his ACL in July 2011 and missed his freshman campaign at Alabama and then tore the same ACL in October 2012 in a game against Ole Miss.

In two seasons with the Tide, Hart had 166 yards on 43 carries with a touchdown, playing in only 14 games.

He was arrested and charged in February by Tuscaloosa police with giving false information and for marijuana possession.

At that time, Alabama athletic department officials confirmed Hart had not been with the football program since the Tide’s loss to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl and had not participated in any offseason activities.

He scored his lone touchdown for Alabama in a 49-0 win over Chattanooga last Nov. 23 on a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter.
