In an announcement that should shock no one, Pitt Panthers head coach Paul Chryst officially announced Chad Voytik as the starting quarterback for the upcoming 2014 college football season.

This was a move that has been expected since the end of last season, and especially after the performance that Voytik had in relief of Tom Savage at the end of last season in the bowl game win over Bowling Green in the Little Caesar’s Bowl.
After taking a shot to the ribs in the first half of the game, Savage did not come out as the starter in the second half, thus leaving the duties up to Voytik, who began to state his case early for the starting job this year.
Voytik finished the night 5-of-9 passing for 108 yards, and he carried the ball two times for 24 yards and a score. Now, he will be the leader of an offense that is expected to be one of the best in the ACC. He’ll have one of the more talented receivers in the country to get the ball to in sophomore Tyler Boyd, and behind him in the backfield will be bruising running back John Conner.
