As is usually the case at this point in the preseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles are once again renewing their Keystone State rivalry, and the hits are certainly coming early in this one, courtesy of Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell and Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans.

Right on the first possession of the game for the Steelers, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger went over the middle to Bell as he was looking for an outlet. But unfortunately for the Steelers back, Ryans was waiting for him and he unloaded.

Oh, and yes, he was flagged for this hit.

Of course, as with any hit like this, you had a lot of complaints about whether or not the hit was legal, but the fact remains that Ryans was faulted for laying out a defenseless receiver.

Still, that hit from Ryans could be nothing compared to what Bell could be facing from the team eventually, as he and backfield mate LeGarrette Blount were both charged on Wednesday with marijuana possession. And in actuality, Bell got the worst of the two as he was charged with DUI as well.

But back to the hit, what do you think? Should Ryans have been flagged for this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
