The Kansas City Royals have been absolutely dominant in baseball’s second half. They won 15 of 18 in a period of time where they played the MLB best Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants. The Royals are hot, and now according to sportsbook.ag, they have a 12/1 odds of winning the World Series, which ranks seventh, behind the Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, Washington Nationals, Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels.

It’s been 29 years since the Royals have seen the playoffs and won their first and only World Series. Since then, they’ve only had eight winning seasons, their first one in ten years coming last season when they finished 86-76 but still in third place in the AL Central.

The Royals have surged in 2014 in special thanks to a solid starting rotation featuring James Shields and a dangerous bullpen led by Greg Holland.

Kansas City leads Detroit in the AL Central by one game, a division that Detroit has dominated and won the past three seasons.

There’s over a month is left in the season, but Kansas City shows promising chances in the playoffs with Detroit struggling between lack of offense, bullpen struggles as well as injuries. If Kansas City wants to make the playoffs this year, they’re going to have to hold strong against the rest of their division in September.

The Royals are 28-29 against fellow AL Central opponents this year.
