LSU has to replace a number of skill positions this year after losing their quarterback, running back and two top receivers to the NFL and the real mystery surrounds who replaces Zach Mettenberger under center. Will it be Anthony Jennings or Brandon Harris?

The answer could be both as Tigers head coach Les Miles said on his radio show on Wednesday that both the true sophomore and true freshman will play during the LSU opener against the Wisconsin Badgers on August. 30.

"“I think there’s an opportunity to see both quarterbacks play,” Miles said via The Advocate. “We have a full game week and several practices this week left so I think I’ll wait before describing exactly how we’d like to play these guys.”"

Who is the first quarterback under center is still the million dollar question but it may not matter as much if both quarterbacks are going to see action as LSU could stick with the quarterback who fares the best.

LSU is not expected to name a starter until next week, possibly on Thursday, and Jennings could be the favorite considering he has an extra year on Harris.

Going with the veteran over the true freshman, even one who enrolled early, leaves the door open for the freshman to come in later if the veteran can’t get the job done while lessening the pressure on the rookie.

A similar strategy has already played out at Texas A&M and Kentucky where true freshman Kyle Allen and Drew Barker lost their quarterback competition to players who had more experience.
