You may recall Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash jokingly taking a shot at the NBA for sending him a note informing him that he was the oldest player in the league.

More from Dallas Mavericks

Well, they apparently want to remind him that his time in the NBA is all but over. Except that Steve Nash is still on the Los Angeles Lakers roster.

The NBA Store account on Twitter sent out a message on Thursday afternoon wishing NBA icon Wilt Chamberlain a happy birthday and in the process suggested that fans should pick up a jersey of their favorite legend. In the photo there was a picture of a Chamberlain jersey along with the uniform of retired NBA talent like Allen Iverson, Alonzo Mourning, Clyde Drexler, Mitch Richmond and Glen Rice.

None of the above mentioned players have played in the NBA for a handful of years (most for over a decade) except for one player who was listed – Steve Nash.

Now, in fairness to the NBA, they were simply promoting some of their throwback jerseys and it just so  happens that both Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki have their Dallas Mavericks jersey in the collection. That said, there isn’t another current NBA player in the collection so it’s certainly a little odd to see both Dirk and Nash thrown in with guys like Shaq, Larry Bird, etc.

The NBA obviously meant no harm though I have a feeling once Steve Nash’s Los Angeles Lakers teammates get wind of this, they’ll have a good time ribbing the aging point guard.
