The third week of the NFL preseason got kicked off on Thursday night as we inch closer to the start of the regular season in the next few weeks, and it opened up with a Keystone State showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers. When it was all said and done in this one, the Eagles came away with a 31-21 win over their in-state rival.

With this being the third week of the preseason, this game is considered a dress rehearsal for the season, with the projected starters playing the most that they have all preseason so far, while they will take most of next week’s final game off.

This one, from start to finish was all Philly. With about six minutes to go in the first quarter, the Eagles got on the board first when running back LeSean McCoy weaved his way through the defense for a 22 yard touchdown reception off the pass from quarterback Nick Foles, who finished the night 19-of-29 for 179 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Philadelphia would take a commanding 24-0 lead into the third quarter, until the Steelers finally got on the board with 27-yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger to tight end Heath Miller.

Big Ben finished his extended preseason outing 15-of-24 for 157 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

The Steelers’ final preseason game will take place next Thursday against the Carolina Panthers, while the Eagles will finish up with a game against the New York Jets on the same night.
