The Green Bay Packers on Friday night against the Oakland Raiders looked like a team that’s ready to make a run at the Super Bowl. But that showing did not come without a price, as the team found out on Saturday that they will be without starting nose tackle B.J. Raji for the entire season after he suffered a torn right biceps.

After the game last night, head coach Mike McCarthy said that Raji was confident that the tests would come back favorably, which ultimately did not happen in the end.

“You have an initial exam,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said after the game. “He’s pretty confident about it. That’s why you do the tests. We’ll see what the tests say.”

The Packers drafted Raji in the first round back in 2009, and he has been a staple on this Packers defense ever since. Just this past offseason, the team re-signed Raji to a one-year deal worth $4 million. He actually came at a bargain, seeing as he did not draw much interest from teams as a free agent.

This season, the team moved Raji back to the nose tackle spot after he failed to impress the last few seasons at the defensive end position.
