UFC Fight Night 49: Beneil Dariush wants a rematch with Ramsey Nijem

TULSA — UFC Fight Night 49 is in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the second of two UFC events today. In a lightweight bout, Beneil Dariush and Tony Martin squared off.

Martin came out strong landing some loud and convincing strikes, even causing Dariush’s nose to bleed. Dariush recovered between rounds, letting out a scream before the start of the second round.

Dariush came back and finished off Martin in the second round with an arm-triangle-choke.

“When the fight first started I was having a really tough time with his range so I started to move in and work the body locks,” Dariush said. “He felt very strong in the clinch at first but as the fight went on he started to break so I went for the takedown. He gave me his back a few times but he was able to escape the first two. On the last one I was able to transition to half guard and he went for a guillotine. As soon as he went for that I countered, sunk in the arm triangle, and got the finish.”

With that win under his belt, Dariush is looking towards his next fight and is eyeing a rematch.

“I’m not the type of guy who takes losing easily so I’d love the chance to avenge my loss to Ramsey Nijem if that opportunity arises,” Dariush said.

Nijem defeated Dariush by a TKO in April in the first round.
