Jerry Jones says Cowboys offensive line could start final preseason game

The Dallas Cowboys have been struggling through the preseason and it has fans concerned. Especially when you take into account that they have a 34-year-old quarterback coming off of back surgery for the second offseason in a row.

The Cowboys invested heavily in the offensive line in recent years, drafting heavily at the position. In the 2014 NFL Draft they selected Zack Martin, electing not to draft quarterback Johnny Manziel who was still on the board when their first-round pick came up.

That offensive line, which was deemed by one sports writer as possibly the best in the league, gave up three sacks on quarterback Tony Romo.

“That concerned me,” Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News, “not because of being able to correct what it takes to block them, but it just concerned me that he was taking those sacks.”

So in order to iron out these issues, the Cowboys could elect to play their offensive line in the fourth and final preseason game, normally a game when teams hold out their major players.

“I think it’s a possibility we may see more from some of the offensive starters,” Jones said. “I don’t know that would include Romo, but I think we might be able to see more work – speculation, but I haven’t talked to the coaches about this and it will be their decision – but that offensive line might get some work against Denver.”
