As the points stand now, Kasey Kahne sits in 13th place, -184 out of first place. However if the chase were to start today, Kahne would find himself on the outside looking in. That is because Kahne and his Farmers Insurance Chevrolet are winless on the season.

While they have managed two top fives and nine top tens, victory lane has eluded Kahne thus far. Kahne’s last winless season came in 2010.

Here is the good news though.

In 17 starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the site of next weekend Sprint Cup race, Kahne has two wins. At Richmond International Raceway, the cut-off race for the chase, Kahne has won once in 21 starts.

Kahne, like many of the drivers that have found themselves on the chase bubble, thought that last Saturday’s night race at Bristol Motor Speedway would be the opportune time to get a win and lock themselves in. It didn’t work out that way however as Kahne would finish a disappointing 35th.

Kahne and crew chief Kenny Francis will likely be go into the next two races with the “win or go home” mentality. It will be interesting to see if they are able to make it happen.
