New England Patriots to cut Stevan Ridley?
By Cory Buck
The New England Patriots don’t like turnovers and Stevan Ridley is a turnover machine. Despite his prolific production at times for the team, that may be enough for the Patriots to send Ridley packing as the preseason nears an end and the team looks to trim its roster.

ESPN beat reporter Mike Reiss released his roster projections for the Patriots roster and put Ridley on the outside looking in thanks to yet more fumbles this preseason. Ridley dressed for just 11 snaps in the team’s third preseason game against the Carolina Panthers — presumably the one in which we’d see the closest thing to a Week 1 roster. Could this be a sign that Ridley’s days in New England are numbered?
After a breakout 2012 campaign in which Ridley rushed for 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns, he lost his footing atop the rushing depth chart when he lost a fumble in Week 1 of the 2013 season. He then cemented his place in the dog house in a three week span, when he lost a fumble in consecutive games.
That may have been all well and good for Ridley had he taken the offseason to work on ball security and displayed such skills, except Ridley fumbled against the Philadelphia Eagles, which surely brought nightmarish flashbacks to the coaching staff. Now it appears that Ridley could be finding a new home thanks to his recurring gaffes.
