Report: Matt Cassel named Minnesota Vikings starting QB over Teddy Bridgewater
By Jack Crosby
One of the more interesting NFL quarterback battles that has been playing out throughout workouts and the preseason has apparently come to an end, as veteran Matt Cassel has been named the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings over rookie Teddy Bridgewater.
This battle was about as close as you could get, with Bridgewater performing rather well in his first few NFL games. However, at the same time, Cassel really did nothing to lose the distinction of being the starter, and running back Adrian Peterson even recently pointed out that he held the edge over the rookie.

“Right now, I feel like, just my personal opinion, I feel like Matt has the edge,” Peterson told the Pioneer Press on Sunday.
“Going off of understanding the offense and who’s running the offense better right now, you know, nothing to do with talent-wise, so that’s why Matt (has the edge),” Peterson said.
Well it seems as if Peterson was on to something, as just hours later, Cassel is now the official leader of this team for Week 1 of the season.
But at leas the team knows with that they’ve seen in the preseason, that should this decision prove to be the wrong one, they have someone in Bridgewater who has a good chance of immediately stepping in and performing at a potentially high level.
