Baltimore Ravens’ rookie C.J. Mosley has been excellent so far this preseason season and has adjusted to the NFL nicely. He’s been so good that former Redskins general manager Charley Casserly was willing to tab his as a future Rookie of the Year.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Casserly dismissed Jadeveon Clowney and said that he could get his sacks, but Mosley would have a greater impact on the team and will take the ROY title. The Ravens are in need of an impact player — or two or three. Once vaunted for to be a tough, crushing defense, their reputation has fallen off considerable. The departure of Ray Lewis seemed to make the end of an era.

Mosley could mark the beginning of a new one. He wouldn’t mind the ROY honors, too.

“That is one of my goals, but that’s just a personal goal,” said Mosley, via The Baltimore Sun. “My main goal is to help this team get back to the Super Bowl.”

Mosley has been quick to diagnose offenses. He’s instinctive and a fast learner. As he proves himself, he is earning the respect of Ravens’ veterans.

“It shows the front office made a good decision,” said outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil, a three-time Pro Bowl selection. “C.J. is humble and ready to work and he’s making plays. It’s expected from him. This is a start. He wants to do it, and that’s where it starts.

“He works hard and practices hard. It’s a good thing. We need him. He’s a good guy. He doesn’t say much. He’s very mature for his age. He’s been a good teammate.”

Via The Sun, Mosley had 319 career tackles, 6.5 sacks, five interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for the Crimson Tide.
