While Kevin Love didn’t sign a five-year contract extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers as was reported by some (it would have violated the CBA), that doesn’t mean the All-Star power forward isn’t committed to the franchise long-term.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Love, who was introduced by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday talked about his new team and couldn’t help but gush over the idea of playing alongside talent like LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. He also made the first official comments regarding his future, suggesting that he plans to be part of the Cleveland Cavaliers organization for a long time to come.

Currently, Kevin Love has a player option for the 2015-16 season which would pay him $16.7 million dollars. It’s not known if he plans to exercise that or become an unrestricted free agent at season end, though he says he’s committed to the Cavaliers moving forward.

Some have speculated that Kevin Love may opt-in to his upcoming contract option as it would make him a free agent at the same time as LeBron James, who is only signed for two seasons. That seems to make sense given Love would probably prefer to commit to the Cavaliers once he knows what LeBron James is doing and it would also allow both of them to sign after the new CBA is agreed upon, giving them the most money possible.

Of course, Kevin Love could simply take LeBron James’ word and re-sign at season end with the belief that James will be back with the Cavs (likely). Whatever the case, it seems as if the All-Star power forward is committed to his new franchise.
