As most of you know by now, the world lost another great in the film industry on Sunday evening. After a few years of declining health, Lord Richard Attenborough passed away at the age of 90.

As you can imagine, his name was quickly added to the In Memoriam segment that was aired at last night’s 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. The tribute also included the likes of artists like actress Lauren Bacall, actor/comedian Robin Williams, poet Maya Angelou, and television/radio personality Casey Kasem just to name a few.

The actor boasts a very deep resume of work that dates all the way back to 1942 when he starred in the war drama In Which We Serve. He’s been in everything from Doctor Dolittle to Miracle on 34th Street and Hamlet, but he will most likely be remembered for his role as Dr. John Hammond in the Jurassic Park films.

In just under one year’s time, the Jurassic Park franchise will be returning to the big screen with the release of the upcoming action-packed thriller Jurassic World starring Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt.

Just before all of the action kicked off at the Emmys last night, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow took to his Twitter account to pay respect to the fallen Attenborough.

He posted an image, presumably from the set of Jurassic World, which shows a statue of Attenborough’s Dr. John Hammond. The caption simply bore the words “In Memoriam.”

Lord Richard Attenborough may be gone from this world, but his life and his work will live on forever, not only in the hearts of the people who knew him best, but the millions of people around the world who were touched by his performances.

When you look at it from this perspective, no one is ever truly gone, just moved on to their next journey.
