The Minnesota Timberwolves have two of the top 14 players taken in this year’s NBA Draft on their roster following the Kevin Love trade, and that’s what is making the future so bright for the team.

But not all rookies are created equally and that means not all will get the same minutes this season. While Andrew Wiggins is going to be a starter, Zach LaVine will be coming off the bench and it sounds like not that often either.

According to Nate Duncan from Basketball Insiders, the Minnesota Timberwolves have a nice young bench but it’s unlikely that everyone sees major minutes this year.

"I’d expect Bennett and Dieng to get major minutes off the bench, along with Brewer and Mo Williams. I don’t think we’ll see a ton of Zach LaVine this year. This should be a relatively deep team at least, while last year’s team had one of the worst benches in the NBA before the emergence of Dieng late in the year."

LaVine is a player the Wolves want to groom but even though he was taken in the lottery like Andrew Wiggins was this year, he’s not as NBA-ready as his colleague is. He has a shooting presence but the Wolves need him to grow properly if they want to make him a part of their everyday rotation.

It’s not as though he won’t see any minutes, but Dieng earned his minutes last year and so did Bennett, and that will be the case for LaVine this year.
